From the beginning, Pulse ERx was designed to exceed CMS requirements. As electronic eligibility verification is confirmed, the applicable drug formulary and medication history updates ERx from the pharmacy benefits manager. Medication history notifies the provider that a patient’s prescription has been picked up in order to help monitor medication compliance. MGMA found that ePrescribing with pharmacy interoperability can significantly reduce the $10,000 per physician spent annually on phone calls related to refills and handwriting interpretation errors.

Pulse ERx also provides drug interaction checking to eliminate preventable adverse medication events through the use of drug-to-drug, drug-to-disease, drug-to-allergy and drug-to-food checking at the time of prescribing. Electronically filling prescriptions also eliminates the estimated 9% of prescriptions filled incorrectly due to handwriting interpretation errors.
