Pulse Acquires Medical Data Systems, Inc. and Establishes an Office in Dallas, TX with a Sublocation in Tulsa, OK

November 14th, 2000

Wichita , Ks. - Pulse, a provider of Medical Practice Management Systems, announced the completion of the acquisition of Medical Data Systems, Inc. (MEDS) based in Dallas, Texas. The acquisition enables Pulse to continue its expansion into new markets and to add experienced personnel. The combined Companies have more than doubled the number of customers for Pulse.

Medical Data Systems has provided practice management solutions to physicians in North Texas and Oklahoma since 1977. The merger will offer a migration path to the Windows based PulsePro Practice Management/Clinical System for their clients. The new software will provide to the clinics the latest in management technologies to run a more efficient operation while improving patient care. The Pulse Pro System will become the clinic’s portal to Internet communications and handheld wireless devices for the physician and their patients in the delivery of healthcare information.

Similar to Pulse’s acquisition of Medical Business Systems of Wichita earlier this year, the selection criteria for the merger was to find a company with the reputation of excellent customer service and a staff capable of supporting new product offerings and new technologies. MEDS was a perfect candidate and was approached in early May with the merger being approved by the stockholders of each company in late July.

“MEDS has been developing and supporting software for physician practice management for twenty-three years and for the past three years we have been working on the development of our own Windows based product to replace our Unix legacy product. However, once I had seen the PulsePro software, it was clear that their Windows development effort was at least two to three years ahead of ours. Not only had they incorporated all of the significant feature enhancements that we had slated for inclusion in our product but they had also designed a number of very impressive features that we had never even thought of. Overall, The PulsePro product was the most impressive practice management product that I have seen anywhere. Moreover, while many of our competitors are just now beginning to bring their Windows products to the market, the PulsePro system has already been proven in real-life, day-to-day clinic operations since the end of 1998. This combination of the “Best of Breed” software, thoroughly tested in production settings for almost two years, combined with an outstanding management team and strong financial backing sold me on the merger. All of us at MEDS are proud to be part of the Pulse team and thrilled to be able to offer this exciting new product to our clients and all of the other physicians in our area.” stated Dan Duffee, President of MEDS.

Mr. Duffee will remain the President of the wholly owned subsidiary.

“The MEDS merger keeps us right on track with our Business Plan to grow the company on a regional acquisition basis and it opens the large Texas and Oklahoma medical market to Pulse. We will maintain the MEDS’ office in Dallas where we will have local support and training.” said Basil Hourani, President of Pulse.

To accommodate the support and training of the new products, the Dallas office will relocate as of November 6, 2000 to newly renovated facilities located at 4040 N. Central Expressway. The main telephone number of 214-265-5100 will stay the same.

In addition, Pulse announced it has surpassed its 2000 business projections with a more than anticipated 65% growth in revenue for the year and will enter into the year 2001 with an extremely strong backlog of system installations.
